CISA Training Course and Exam

While there are no formal prerequisites to attend this training course, please be aware that this is an exam preparation course and all candidates are expected to have a basic understanding of the CISA job practice knowledge domains.

To be eligible for CISA certification, you must be able to demonstrate five years’ experience of professional information systems auditing, control or security.

Although there is a degree of overlap between the CISSP and CISA, the two certifications focus on different things, so it is almost impossible to assess their comparative difficulty. If you are trying to decide which certification to pursue, you should consider what you want it for rather than which one is ‘harder’. CISA is specifically for IT auditors; the CISSP is about implementing, operating and maintaining secure information systems, so has broader professional application.

According to itjobswatch.co.uk, the median UK salary for a CISA in the six months to June 2021 was £64,000.

To maintain your CISA certification you must earn and report a minimum of 120 CPE hours over a 3-year period, of which at least 20 hours must be earned each year. You must also pay an annual maintenance fee, comply with ISACA’s Code of Professional Ethics, abide by ISACA’s IT auditing standards and, if selected, comply with an annual CPE audit. The time you need to dedicate to studying ultimately depends on your confidence in your knowledge and experience, but many CISAs reckon on at least three months’ study.

ISACA uses a scaled scoring system. The minimum score is 200 and the maximum is 800. To pass the exam, you must get a score of 450 or higher.
