The course provides insights into the compliance requirements for the currently enforceable NIS Directive (EU) 2016/1148 and the UK’s NIS Regulations (2018), and is a stepping stone for compliance with NIS 2 (EU) 2022/2555.
This course explores the security measures and incident reporting requirements introduced by the NIS Directive (Directive on security of network and information systems) ((EU) 2016/1148. The NIS Directive was introduced to achieve a high common level of network and information systems security across the EU among OES (operators of essential services) and DSPs (digital service providers).
The UK government implemented the Directive through its own NIS Regulations (Network and Information Systems Regulations 2018), where it forms part of the UK’s National Cyber Strategy. The course provides a comprehensive introduction to the EU NIS Directive and UK NIS Regulations, and a practical understanding of the implications and legal requirements for affected organisations.
