Description

The EU GDPR Practitioner Distance Learning course outline

More extensive in scope and application than the Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA), the EU GDPR extends the data rights of individuals, and requires organisations to develop clear policies and procedures to protect personal data, and adopt appropriate technical and organisational measures. UK organisations have had to comply with the Regulation since 25 May 2018, or potentially face fines of up to 4% of annual turnover or €20 million – whichever is greater.

The four-day Certified EU General Data Protection Regulation Practitioner (GDPR) Distance Learning Training Course focuses on the application of the Regulation, how the data protection principles work in practice, the policies and procedures necessary, and practical guidance on how to implement an effective privacy and information security compliance programme.

I benefitted from completing this course online as there were no distractions or interruptions. The trainer was very open and receptive to questions and clearly was very skilled at applying the GDPR to different industries. He took time to ensure our application of the GDPR was good before moving on and made sure we all answered the questions and completed the tasks. The downside was not being able to work with classmates, but I felt this was handled well and as the course went on we interacted more. The course handouts and tools were very useful and I have used them already in my work.

The course is provided through a series of very dry and boring videos which are hard to stay engaged with, there is no opportunity to gain clarification if you have questions or wish to discuss any item. I was not able to pass the test first time using these learning materials and it costs 150 GBP to resit the exam. I also did not think the placement of advertising the services offered by this company was appropriate within the context of the training course. The daily email spam I now receive from IT Governance is also a bit unwelcome!
