New CyberComply online service streamlines certification to Cyber Essentials

IT Governance, the fast-growing cyber security provider and CREST-accredited certification body for the Cyber Essentials scheme, has launched CyberComply – a unique online service that enables companies to apply for certification to Cyber Essentials, following a convenient ‘do-it-yourself’ approach.
The service was developed by risk management software experts Vigilant Software, and allows applicants to complete the entire application for Cyber Essentials certification online.
Alan Calder, founder and executive chairman of IT Governance, says, “This service has been developed with our clients in mind – it represents a convenient solution to obtaining CREST-accredited Cyber Essentials certification, without the hassle of having to schedule an appointment and complete lengthy forms.  The online application process helps our clients save time and money.”
Customers who purchase a Cyber Essentials certification application from IT Governance will be directed to the CyberComply secure portal where they will be able to complete the mandatory Cyber Essentials questionnaire and schedule the vulnerability scans mandated by CREST.
Calder explains, “The platform has been devised as a user-friendly, no-fuss solution for applying for Cyber Essentials certification. It provides detailed guidance on completing the questionnaire and defining the scope, making the process easy and pain-free.”
CyberComply enables the applicant to take action on remedial activities required in the five Cyber Essentials controls before finalising the questionnaire and submitting the application to IT Governance. Companies seeking further assistance are able to make use of the Live Online service offered by IT Governance, which can be purchased via the CyberComply portal itself.
Upon receiving a successful assessment by certification body IT Governance, the applicant will receive a Cyber Essentials certificate, testifying that the organisation meets the requirements of Cyber Essentials as outlined by CES accreditation body CREST.

The Cyber Essentials scheme, which was officially launched on 5 June 2014 by the UK Government, was developed to keep UK business safe. It aims to offer a baseline for cyber security and sets out the key steps to manage cyber risks.
From 1 October 2014, the UK Government requires organisations to prove compliance with the scheme in order to bid for government contracts that involve the handling of sensitive and personal information, and the provision of certain technical products and services.
The Cyber Essentials scheme applies to small- and medium-sized organisations and large companies alike. British organisations that meet the assessment requirements of the scheme will be awarded a badge to demonstrate compliance. There are two levels of compliance: Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus.
