IT Governance to host the first event dedicated to the UK Government’s Cyber Essentials Scheme

IT Governance, the fast-growing cyber security provider, has announced that it will host the first event of its kind on the UK Government’s Cyber Essentials Scheme. A high-profile list of government and industry figures will discuss the scheme as well as the bronze, silver and gold levels of compliance that will apply to it.
The event will take place on 24 June 2014 at No.2 Royal Mint Court in London. Places can be booked at an early-bird rate until 13 June here: www.itgovernance.co.uk/shop/p-1572.aspx.
The event follows IT Governance’s highly successful cyber security event at the Churchill War Rooms in May 2014, which showed a growing interested in the UK Cyber Essentials scheme.
Richard Bach – Assistant Director, Cyber Security at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) – will be speaking about the scheme at the event on 24 June 2014.
At another event hosted by IT Governance in May, Mr. Bach said: “Cyber Essentials is complementary to the good work and value across several existing standards and frameworks. The Scheme gives testable guidance on five areas of basic technical controls. When implemented, it will help organisations protect themselves from online cyber threats. Its principles apply to organisations of all sizes, from micro enterprises to large corporates. Our main aim is adoption – we want to see Cyber Essentials adopted as far and wide as possible. We want to see a step change in organisational cyber security behaviours."
Alan Calder, Founder and Executive Chairman of IT Governance, says: “The Cyber Essentials Scheme will play an important role in creating a baseline of cyber security measures for British organisations. We welcome the fact that the five security controls set by the scheme are based on ISO27001, the international information security management standard.”
Speakers from BCS, ISACA and SGS will give talks at the event titled “Cyber Essentials – The UK Government Scheme to improve cyber security”, which is aimed at organisations of all types and sizes who are looking for an early or mid-term adoption of the Scheme.
Places at the event are limited, and can be booked here: www.itgovernance.co.uk/shop/p-1572.aspx.
