IT Governance, the leading provider of cyber security expertise and ISO 17024-certificated training courses, is delighted to announce its partnership with Skyhigh Networks
to deliver the upcoming webinar on the GDPR and the impact it has on companies that use Cloud computing.
The ‘Privacy and GDPR: How Cloud computing could be your failing’ webinar
will provide an overview of the Regulation, and discuss the breach notification requirements under the GDPR, organisations’ responsibilities when storing data in the Cloud, and the roles of the controller and the processor.
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
will come into force on 25 May 2018 and is designed to provide a single harmonised data privacy law applicable across all European member states. Businesses that collect and handle data on European data subjects will need to comply with the Regulation in order to avoid tough fines of up to 4% of annual turnover or €20 million, whichever is greater.
Alan Calder, the founder and executive chairman of IT Governance, says: “With a little over a year left for companies to achieve compliance with the stringent requirements of the GDPR, we aim to raise awareness and inform companies and individuals involved in compliance projects about the requirements that need to be met in order to comply with the Regulation. The GDPR requires a significant amount of work and time, and our webinars are designed to provide the support that IT teams require to get started and achieve an understanding of the Regulation.”
The GDPR creates a new set of requirements for Cloud service providers processing the data of EU residents, regardless of whether or not the service provider is based in or has operations in Europe. Because of this, the Privacy and GDPR: How Cloud computing could be your failing
webinar is designed to equip individuals involved in GDPR compliance and organisations storing data in the Cloud with an understanding of the GDPR’s requirements.
The session will also focus on the outcomes of subcontracting to Cloud service providers, notifications on activities in the Cloud, and how roles and responsibilities are affected by Cloud adoption. The webinar will also provide an overview of ISO 27018 and implementing security controls for personally identifiable information (PII) in the Cloud.
will be presented by Adrian Ross, GRC Consultant at IT Governance, and Nigel Hawthorn, EMEA Marketing Director of Skyhigh Networks. This session will take place on 24 January 2017 from 3:00 – 3:45pm (GMT). The webinar is followed by a 15-minute Q&A session to provide expert answers for the delegates attending the webinar.
