IT Governance expands ISO 27001 training portfolio to meet demand for professional development

27/06/2013

IT Governance, the global leader in IT governance, risk management and compliance expertise, has delivered the first ISO 27005 Certified ISMS Risk Management course to meet the rising demand for risk management skills amongst cyber security professionals.

Alan Calder, CEO of IT Governance comments: “We’re seeing a growing ISO 27001 market, as organisations respond to customer pressures to demonstrate management control of cyber security. The new ISO 27005 Risk Management course addresses an increasing need for professionals skilled in delivering effective risk management with regard to information security.”

Effective risk management is often the most challenging aspect of an ISO 27001 project, as Tony Drewitt, Risk Consultant and Trainer comments:

“The challenge [of risk management] is two-fold; understanding what information security actually is and knowing how to assess and respond to the related risks in a logical way, that will stand scrutiny should the worst happen.

ISO 27005 combines internationally accepted good practice in risk management with information security and participants on the ISO 27005 Risk Management course use this approach to acquire the skills to implement this critical component of information security management.”

As well as acquiring skills in risk management, participants attending this course can also gain the Certified ISMS Risk Management (CIS RM) qualification, awarded by IBITGQ. With 74%* of private sector organisations now rating certification as the key indicator of competency in information security, holders of the CIS RM qualification can expect to benefit from enhanced career opportunities in the future.

IT Governance will deliver the next ISO 27005 Certified ISMS Risk Management course on 25-27 September 2013, in London. Find out more at: www.itgovernance.co.uk/shop/p-1309.aspx
