Steve Watkins, an internationally respected authority on ISO 27001 and ISMS accredited certification, will be among the presenters at the ISO27001 Ireland conference taking place in Dublin on 19 April 2016. The event is aimed at information security professionals responsible for implementing ISO 27001.
With years of experience in implementing ISO 27001, and as one of the IT Governance directors
who led the world’s first ISO 27001 ISMS implementation, Steve also contracts to UKAS as one of their ISMS Technical Assessors.
Steve has written several publications on ISO 27001, including as co-author of the bestselling IT Governance: An international guide to data security and ISO 27001
(now in its sixth edition), the textbook for the Open University’s postgraduate information security course.
Through his relationship with UKAS, Steve contributes to the assessment of certification bodies offering accredited certification. He is also chair of the ISO/IEC 27001 User Group, and sits on the IST/33 committee responsible for the UK’s contributions to the revisions of the ISO 27000 series of standards and chairs the panel IST/33/01/02 responsible for ISMS accreditation, auditing and competence.
