CyberComply portal makes certification to Cyber Essentials Plus easier and more cost-effective

13/07/2015

IT Governance, the fast-growing cyber security provider and CREST-accredited certification body for the Cyber Essentials scheme, has announced that clients are now able to apply for both Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus certification through the CyberComply portal.

Developed by risk management software experts Vigilant Software, CyberComply offers a convenient do-it-yourself approach, allowing candidates to complete their application for Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus certification online.

Alan Calder, the founder and executive chairman of IT Governance, says, “The online application process helps our clients save time and money. The platform has been devised as a user-friendly, no-fuss way to apply for Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus certification. It provides detailed guidance on completing the questionnaire and defining the scope, in addition to the ability to schedule scans and site visits, making the process easy and pain-free.”

Customers applying for certification from IT Governance will be directed to the CyberComply secure portal, where they will be able to define the scope for certification, complete the mandatory Cyber Essentials questionnaire and schedule the external vulnerability scans mandated by CREST.

CyberComply lets the applicant take remedial actions to correctly implement the five Cyber Essentials controls before finalising the questionnaire and submitting the application to IT Governance. Companies seeking further assistance are able to make use of the Live Online service offered by IT Governance, which can be purchased via the CyberComply portal itself.

Customers seeking Cyber Essentials Plus certification can also schedule an internal site assessment with an assessor via the platform, and provide details of all Internet-connected devices prior to the assessor’s visit.

In-line text clearly explains what is required at every stage, and a status bar indicates exactly how the certification process is progressing.

If their application is successful, applicants will receive their certificate, testifying that their organisation meets the requirements of Cyber Essentials or Cyber Essentials Plus, as outlined by the Cyber Essentials scheme accreditation body CREST.

The Cyber Essentials scheme, which was officially launched on 5 June 2014 by the UK Government, was developed to keep UK businesses safe. It offers a baseline for cyber security and sets out the key steps to manage cyber risks.

The UK Government requires organisations to prove compliance with the scheme in order to bid for government contracts that involve the handling of sensitive and personal information, and the provision of certain technical products and services.

The Cyber Essentials scheme applies to small and medium-sized organisations and large companies alike. British organisations that meet the assessment requirements of the scheme will be awarded a badge to demonstrate compliance. There are two levels of compliance: Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus.
