Why don’t more organisations use encryption?

On a daily basis there are more & more cases coming to light of laptops being stolen with sensitive information on them. Some of the worst cases are where no adequate measures have been taken to protect sensiitive information.

One recent illustration that proves my case is an incident at Glasgow City Council where two laptops were stolen, one of which contained the personal information of 20,000+ individuals. This information wasn’t encrypted and as a result could be accessed by criminals.

But why was this the case? Shouldn’t they have ensured a simple endpoint encryption solution such as Alertsec Endpoint Encrypt was used to protect this information? Yes, they should have.

The costs of incidents involving the theft of people’s personal information is growing and with increased public awareness, the reputational damage alone is unquantifiable.

A small investment in encryption can go a very long way!
