UK Defence contractors, as well as the British government, are being targeted by cyber-criminals and hostile intelligence agencies. Mr Hague (UK foreign secretary), claimed cyberspace was providing “rich pickings” for criminals and urged governments to move faster to counter the threat. He added that the UK was determined to be at the forefront of attempts to safeguard liberties on the net, but warned that many countries were “actively working against us in a hostile manner.”
All organisations in the UK, and particularly those dealing with the public sector, will be under increased pressure to put in place a rigid system for managing cyber security. The nature of these attacks suggests that there is the potential for viruses to spread beyond it’s initial target and infiltrate networks elsewhere.
Accredited Certification to ISO27001 gives an organisation internationally recognised and accepted proof that its system for managing information security – its ISMS or cyber security readiness – is of an acceptable, independently audited and verified standard. If you’re in information security management, writing information security policies or implementing ISO27001 – either as Lead Implementer or as part of the planning/implementation team – you will benefit hugely from attending the ISO27001 Certified ISMS Lead Implementer Masterclass.
“Excellent + enjoyable. Presenters were masters of their subject and imparted their knowledge in an easy to understand way. Would recommend to others.”
– David Dawkins, South Gloucestershire Council.
