9 October marked the opening of this year’s annual European gathering of payment security leaders, the PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC). The gathering is an open forum where developments of payment card security standards are announced.
One of the highlights of this year’s announcements was the launch of Global Payment Security Education Week, a training awareness initiative aimed at driving ‘greater learning and understanding of payment data protection’.
The dates of the initiative honour former PCI SSC member James Barrow, who sadly passed away in October 2013. The awareness week runs from 13 to 20 October this year and offers online PCI Awareness training for free. Training is accessible for 30 days, from 21 October to 21 November 2014.
To qualify for free training, participants simply need to register on the PCI SSC website.
The new PCI SSC initiative coincides with European Cyber Security Month (ECSM), an EU advocacy campaign that focuses on promoting cyber security among citizens, changing their perception of cyber threats and providing up-to-date security information through education and sharing good practices.
