Without giving too many details away, Michaels Stores’ CEO Chuck Rubin announced on Saturday that the company is currently investigating a breach.
A notification letter is being sent to impacted customers. However, there is no further information on the number of customers affected, what happened and when it happened.
“We are working closely with federal law enforcement and are conducting an investigation with the help of third-party data security experts to establish the facts,” Rubin said in the letter, also indicating that Michaels will offer free identity theft protection and credit monitoring services.
