IT Governance started 2014 with a very successful event, Leveraging ISO 27001:2013 to address Information Security and Cyber Security issues, on Thursday January 30th 2014.
We partnered with NQA to deliver an event aimed at helping attendees to determine their cyber security readiness and explore the best strategies for implementing cyber security.
Emma Clancy, Chief Executive of Certsure LLP and Ascertiva Group, opened the event followed by the keynote speech by IT Governance’s Founder, Alan Calder. Alan provided an insightful presentation, discussing HM Government’s research into Cyber Security Standards around the world – explaining the best ways to be cyber resilient and identifying how to address customer requirements.
The Cyber Security Challenge was the focus of the talk given by Steve Watkins, Director of Training & Consultancy at IT Governance. Steve outlined the new ISO27001:2013 Information Security Standard requirements and discussed the changing standards environment in which UK businesses find themselves.
After a valuable networking session and lunch, Bee Modhwadia, an IS027001 specialist at NQA, examined the pros and cons of setting up an ISO27001 Information Security Management system and looked at how adopting International Standards can really help businesses grow.
Attendees then watched a fascinating case-study video on how Workforce Metrics implemented an Information Security Management System (ISMS). Andy Shettle, Managing Director of Workforce Metrics, gave an overview of the compliance needs of an SME software development business and explained why cyber security matters to Workforce Metrics.
The event proved a huge success with delegates taking away essential information and knowledge on how to adopt better cyber security practices in order to be cyber resilient – and compliant.
