ENISA launched a report, identifying the weaknesses we have in detecting network security incidents.
The report found that Computer Emergency Response Teams (CERTs) are currently not using all their possible external sources to combat cyber crime, nor are they sharing the information they have with other CERTs. This is a concerning issue as information exchange is key to combatting cyber crime.
ENISA picked up upon 16 shortcomings such as insufficient data quality, lack of standard formats, tools, resources and skills. To rectify these weaknesses, ENISA suggest that data providers should focus on improving communication with their CERTs and improve data quality in terms of format and distribution. In regards to data consumers, they suggest CERTs to qualify data feeds and deployments.
