eBay have announced today that they suffered a cyber attack which compromised a database containing encrypted passwords as well as other non-financial data.
The cyber attack was carried out after a “small number of employee login credentials were stolen, allowing unauthorized access to eBay’s corporate network”, eBay said in a press release on its website.
The compromised database contained:
- Customers’ names
- Encrypted Passwords
- Email addresses
- Physical addresses
- Phone numbers
- Dates of Birth
Even though eBay claims that passwords are encrypted, they are asking users to change them – a request users can expect in an email soon.
