According to Dell’s GDPR Global Survey, more than 80% of IT and business professionals know little or nothing about the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
The GDPR, which was formally approved by the European Parliament in April 2016, supersedes national laws such as the UK’s Data Protection Act (DPA) to unify data protection and ease the flow of personal data across the 28 EU member states. Organisations have until 25 May 2018 to comply.
While the GDPR is at the beginning of its adoption stage, organisations around the world should be looking to kick-start their compliance projects now.
