Cyber crime increases by 50% each year in India

At the NASSCOM Global Leadership Awards, Home Minister P. Chidambaram said that the number of reported cyber crime incidents had risen 50% each year in India.

In 2009, there were 2,866 reported incidents, which has grown rapidly to 9,000 over the last five years.

Cyber security is now a national issue within India that many organisations will have to face up to. Just yesterday it was reported that a group of Bangladeshi hackers had breached “thousands of Indian websites, including that of the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Trinamool Congress”.
