For larger organisations that have adopted COBIT® 5 best practice, it is essential that they establish a baseline and continually assess the effectiveness of their enterprise process capabilities. The COBIT 5 Process Assessment Model (PAM) defines a practical evidence-based approach that provides reliable and consistent management information for IT directors and C-level executives. These senior managers not only need to know that the return on their COBIT 5 investment has paid off but also will use this information to make major decisions that could affect outsourcing, new capital projects or even future mergers and acquisitions.
The COBIT 5 professional who provides the board with this information is right at the heart of this strategic decision-making process and is a highly valued member of the senior executive team. They may work directly for the organisation or be an independent COBIT 5 consultant. It goes without saying that they are likely to be rewarded with high salaries or fees for their efforts.
Launched by ISACA in 2013, the COBIT 5 Assessor training course is designed to provide a practical education on how to perform an assessment and awards an industry-recognised qualification – COBIT 5 Assessor – that demonstrates this capability to peers and employers worldwide. Delegates attending this course are expected to have already completed their COBIT 5 Foundation course and many will have significant experience in IT management and audit.
