Knowing about information security is not enough. You also have to deploy it across the business - which means convincing management of its importance. Sales skills are not normally part of the make up of the average information security professional - successfully understanding threats, patching vulnerabilities and disaster recovery, should not, after all, depend on sales skills. The opportunity to do these things well, however, does depend on the board continuing to support and invest in Information Security projects.
