What is an RSS or XML feed?
"RSS" stands for Really Simple Syndication and, basically, is a webpage designed to be read by computers rather than people. In practice, this means that rather than you having to visit a website to find updated content, with RSS (also called XML feeds), you can subscribe to a feed, and you are alerted when the content is updated.
This is a really good idea for a website like ours: we are always adding products, and releasing news, and information. Use our RSS feed to stay on top of everything that is happening!
How do I read RSS?
You can collect and browse feeds in many ways, but there are two main categories of feed-reading application (usually called a "RSS reader"): desktop programs and online services. You can use one or the other or both.
-
A desktop program
Two of the most popular desktop applications are: FeedDemon (for Windows) and NetNewsWire (Mac OS X). Both require a small purchase price, but are considered the best in terms of ease of use. -
A web-based service
Web-based services are free and have the added benefit of being available to you everywhere you have a internet connection. The most common applications are Bloglines, iGoogle and My Yahoo.
How do I subscribe to an RSS feed?
The process will differ according to the software or Web service you use, but it will usually involve copying and pasting the appropriate URL to your chosen RSS reader.
We have created some links below to help you subscribe to the IT Governance RSS feed - clicking on the links to add to your desktop RSS reader, or click on the icons to add the feed to your chosen web based service.
