Do I need special software or hardware to read eBooks?
Adobe eBook and EPUB for PC require you to download and install Adobe Digital Editions.
Install Adobe Digital Editions on your PC or Mac
You can install the latest version of ADE here.
Don’t forget to create an Adobe ID. This ID (usually your email address) acts as your unique key to be able to open the eBooks that you buy.
Why do I need to create an Adobe ID?
Our eBooks in Adobe eBook and EPUB formats are secured with Adobe ADEPT digital rights management (DRM). DRM is used to map your purchased eBooks to the Adobe ID associated with your ADE account, giving you unlimited access to your purchases while also limiting piracy.
It is possible to access your account on up to six different devices you authorise. This includes all of your favourite devices: eReaders, smartphones, tablets, laptops, computers (Mac or PC), and so on. Your Adobe ID is the key to all of this, identifying you as the reader permitted to open and read your eBooks anytime, anywhere.
Authorise your computer within ADE
This is important for all EPUB and Adobe eBook customers. This allows you to access your library from your favourite devices (PCs included) anytime.
Kindle files for PC require you to download Kindle for PC.
Install Kindle for PC on your PC or Mac
You will need to download Kindle for PC to read these eBooks on your computer, or you can transfer them straight from purchase to a Kindle device.
Both programs are free to download.
