The CGEIT certification is awarded to candidates with at least five years of relevant work experience in IT governance and who pass a rigorous written exam which is held in June and December of each year.

ISACA defines five CGEIT Domains which make up the required knowledge on which you will be examined:

  • Domain 2 - Strategic Management
  • Domain 3 - Benefits Realization
  • Domain 4 - Risk Optimization

How do you pass the CGEIT exam at the first attempt?

We recommend the following action list:

  1. Check that you have the relevant five years of work experience to qualify with ISACA
  2. Register and book your June or December exam directly with ISACA
  3. Purchase the official ISACA Study Guides and 3rd Party textbooks
  4. Plan a self-study programme that covers all of the CGEIT knowledge Domains
  5. Attend our CGEIT Exam Preparation training course approximately two weeks before you sit the exam.

Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT(CGEIT)Training Course

The Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT) Training Course is designed to provide a complete preparation to ensure that you pass the ISACA CGEIT examination at the first attempt. This four-day course runs at our UK training centres and offers the perfect revision and preparation for the CGEIT exam scheduled in June and December of each year.

CGEIT Exam Registration

The CGEIT qualification is awarded by the ISACA examination body. The exam can only be taken in June or December. You must book your exam directly with ISACA, the awarding examination board.

Deadlines for registration are as follows:

  • Final Registration Deadline – 23 October 2015
  • Examination Date – 12 December 2015

Following registration and payment, you will receive the following from ISACA:

  • The Candidate's Guide to the CGEIT Exam document
  • A suggested list of reference materials to review
  • A glossary of acronyms
  • A sample copy of the answer sheet used for the exam

Essential CGEIT books and study guides

Preparation is the essential ingredient to passing the CGEIT exam and we strongly advise that you purchase the CGEIT Exam and Study Guides. We particularly recommend the CGEIT Exam Passport, which includes copies of the CGEIT Review Manual 2015 and CGEIT Review Questions, Answers and Explanations Manual 2015.

Continuing Professional Education

Once qualified, all CGEIT professionals must maintain their Continuing Professional Education (CPE). The CGEIT CPE requires professionals to maintain an adequate level of current knowledge and proficiency in the field of IT Governance.

CPE requirements are defined by ISACA and currently include:

  • Annual maintenance fee
  • A minimum of 20 hours contact hours of CPE per annum
  • A minimum of 120 contact hours in a fixed three year period
