In advance of Business Continuity Awareness Week BCAW (18th to 22nd March 2013), we are urging organisations to take a close look at their existing business continuity plans and to align them to international best practice.
All organisations face business continuity risks. Consider that:
- 80% of organisations with a well-planned and implemented business continuity plan are likely to survive a major business discontinuity.
- However, only 20% of those without a business continuity plan are likely to survive.
- Over 90% of organisations that suffer a significant data loss are not in business two years later.
ISO 22301 is the international standard for business continuity management and replaced the British Standard BS25999-2 in May 2012.
ISO 22301 set outs the requirements for a Buisiness Continuity Management System (BCMS) and is based on the ‘Plan-Do-Check-Act’ model as found in other management system standards.
Buy a copy of the ISO 22301 Standard and at the same time, pick up a copy of our brand new pocket guide ISO22301 – A Pocket Guide. It will help you understand business continuity international practice and provides guidance on the best way to implement a fit for purpose BCMS.
