'ITIL®' is the acronym for 'IT Infrastructure Library®'. ITIL is a set of books that contain best practice in IT service management. 'ITIL' and 'IT Infrastructure Library' are registered trademarks that belong to the OGC (the UK's Office of Government Commerce) and they are published by TSO (the Stationery Office).
ITIL v3 was updated in 2011 to make it easier to read, understand and implement; the core principles of ITIL v3 have remained. You can read all about the update here. ITIL is contained in the five core books, known collectively as the ITIL Lifecycle Suite.
All the ITIL books are available in soft covers, downloadable pdf and online subscription.
If you are new to ITIL you should invest in this official guide The Official Introduction to the ITIL Service Lifecycle, which has high-level process models and describes all the other books in the library.

ITIL 2011 Update Titles Available in Multiple Formats
ITIL titles are available in multiple formats:
