Overview

BS25999-2:2007 is the new standard for business continuity within organisations. It contains best practice in developing and implementing a robust business continuity plan. This course will take you from theory to practice, offering the opportunity to question and pre-plan for business continuity in your own organisation using the standard and examples of good practice. The course is designed and delivered by a consultant who advised on one of the few, if not the first successful BS25999 accredited certification projects.

Master class duration

2 day. The course will be a mixture of presentations and short group workshop sessions. Full course materials will be provided.

Target Audience

Directors and Senior Managers with responsibility for planning and managing risk and sustaining ongoing business performance within their organisation – in particular Operations Directors, Risk Managers, IT Managers and Business Continuity Managers. Delegates may come from large or small organisations in any sector.

Pre-requisites

Attendees should have a good understanding of the key functions and operations of their own organisation and come prepared to discuss in broad terms some of the risk and performance issues which may affect their business.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the courses delegates will:

  • Understand the differences between BS25999-1 (Code of Practice) and BS25999-2 (Specification), and how to use them to best effect
  • Understand how to use the standard to support Business continuity planning within their own organisation.

  • Understand the benefits and be aware of some of the pitfalls in Business Continuity management
  • Be able to weigh up the likely returns from investment in a range of different planning choices
  • Understand the benefits of accredited certification to BS25999-2:2007, and the value of a BCM system based on a formal standard
